The existence of Kouga FM today stems from Marvin Terblanche who identified a gap of information and news not reaching the communities where he stayed. He wanted to address the core problems faced by Jeffreys Bay and the surrounding communities, by creating a platform to allow the voices to be heard and addressed, this led to the radio station being established.

It was not an easy path to start a radio station but with the support of the Trust, it allowed those silent voices to be heard. The community takes pride in the radio station as it echoes their voices and addresses the issues such as gender-based violence, abuse and provides access to valuable information and news that benefits the community.

The radio station reaches at least 145 000 listeners across 3 municipalities and presenters are all volunteers from the community which the radio station has committed to nurture and grow.
